WINDOW REPLACEMENT PACKAGE
Supply & Installation of 106 Windows & 12 Doors — School, Nuneaton, Warwickshire
The Brief / Challenge
The existing timber box sash windows throughout this school in Nuneaton had reached the end of their serviceable life. The timber frames had deteriorated significantly — with rot, failed joints, and draught issues across the building — and the single-glazed units offered minimal thermal performance, contributing to high heating costs and uncomfortable classroom environments during the colder months.
The client required a full window replacement programme covering 106 windows and 12 doors. The critical constraint was that the school remained operational throughout — works needed to be carefully programmed during term time and coordinated alongside wider refurbishment activities being carried out by other contractors. Minimising disruption to pupils, staff, and the teaching programme was the overriding priority.
The Solution / What We Delivered
All existing timber box sash windows were removed and replaced with 106 new aluminium windows, manufactured and installed in accordance with the system specification. The new windows delivered a step change in thermal performance — moving from single-glazed timber frames to thermally broken aluminium profiles with sealed double-glazed IGUs — significantly reducing heat loss through the window envelope and improving classroom comfort.
The installation programme was carefully sequenced to work around the school's timetable. Areas were prepared and secured before each phase, with works progressing section by section to ensure classrooms and corridors remained safe and accessible for pupils and staff at all times. Coordination with the wider refurbishment contractors was managed throughout to avoid conflicting trades and keep the overall programme on track.
Each window was integrated with the surrounding building fabric — including new internal and external trims, weather seals, and finishing details — to achieve a clean interface between the new aluminium systems and the existing masonry.
The supply and installation of 12 thermal commercial doors was completed by Door Engineers, a division of Alu-Glaze & Door Engineers Ltd.
