Replacement of Insulated Glass Units — Dartford, Kent
The Brief / Challenge
Forty insulated glass units serving the gym and swimming pool areas of this leisure facility in Dartford had reached end-of-life. The bronze anti-sun IGUs — originally specified to manage solar heat gain in the high-exposure pool and gym elevations — had developed widespread seal failure, resulting in misting between panes, reduced thermal performance, and a noticeable deterioration in the building's appearance.
The pool environment in particular had accelerated the degradation, with the elevated humidity and chlorinated atmosphere placing additional stress on the perimeter seals. The client required a planned replacement programme that could be coordinated around the facility's operating hours to avoid disruption to members and staff.
The Solution / What We Delivered
All 40 defective IGUs were replaced in a planned programme carried out in accordance with the original system specifications. The replacement units were specified as bronze anti-sun IGUs, matching the solar control properties and appearance of the original glazing to maintain consistency across the elevations.
Each existing unit was carefully removed from the aluminium framing system, with all old glass segregated on site and disposed of in full compliance with current waste management regulations and environmental requirements. No glass was sent to general waste — all units were processed through approved recycling channels.
The installation was sequenced to minimise disruption to the leisure facility's operations, with work areas cordoned off and access maintained to all public areas throughout the programme.

Accreditations & Compliance
