Emergency Shopfront IGU Replacement — Theobalds Road, Central London
The Brief / Challenge
A shopfront insulated glass unit on Theobalds Road in Central London was damaged by debris displaced from a passing lorry. The fractured unit compromised the security and weather integrity of the frontage, requiring urgent replacement to restore the shopfront and allow the business to continue operating safely.
The location — a busy Central London street — meant pedestrian safety was a primary concern throughout the works. The replacement also needed to be scheduled around the client's trading hours to minimise lost business.
The Solution / What We Delivered
The fractured IGU was carefully removed from the aluminium framing system, with all broken glass safely contained and correctly disposed of through approved waste channels. The frontage was fully cordoned off throughout the removal process to protect pedestrians on this busy street.
A new insulated glass unit was supplied, installed, and aligned within the existing aluminium shopfront system. The unit was securely retained using the original glazing beads and gaskets, restoring the frontage to its full operational condition — weather-tight, secure, and visually consistent with the surrounding glazing.
All works were scheduled and completed to suit the client's opening hours, ensuring the business could resume normal operations without extended closure.
